Excursion to Dartmoor

On Wednesday afternoon we visited Dartmoor National Park, one of the last great wildernesses in the UK with a lovely landscape. It was designated as a National Park in 1951, it is a countryside of huge richness and diversity stretching across 368 square miles ( as big as London!)
It's a landscape quite unlike any other, populated by lofty granite tors, mysterious hut circles and standing stones, ancient woodlands, sturdy clapper bridges, rushing streams. We have seen wild ponies over the landscape, we have walked and enjoyed the landscape. At the end we visited a tiny village and had a nice snack.
